October 31st is just around the corner so here are all the tricks and treats you need to make your kids Halloween party as spooktastic as possible!
1. Feeling crafty? Hang up some pumpkin bunting
If you’re hosting a kids Halloween party then nothing says Halloween like pumpkins! So grab yourself some orange card, draw round a bowl and cut out. Repeat this step to create as many pumpkins as you so wish. Then let your little one draw their scariest face in each piece of card and carefully cut it out. Punch a couple of hotels at the top and feed some string through. If you’re short of time use orange paper and create a pumpkin paper chain instead.
2. Serve up fingers for dinner
These might look extremely disgusting, but hey, isn’t that the idea?! Grab yourself some mini hot dog buns, hot dog sausages and lots of ketchup. Shave a little bit of the tip off the sausage, scour in some lines, place it within a ketchup filled bun and there you have it… totally delicious but very gross looking, hot dog fingers!
3. Escape the web
It wouldn’t be a kids Halloween party without party games. Cover your hallway in toilet paper and hang up a few eight legged friends, then see if your little one can orientate their way through the spider’s web. You could even set a tempting little prize at the end.
4. Reinvent the buffet spread
Cover your table in an old cloth and lay out an old shirt and trousers on top and splatter on some fake blood or red food colouring. Stick some monster hands out of the end of the shirt, place some utensils in the hands and add some more blood. Place your buffet food in foil trays on top and there you have it… A food version of Operation!
5. Drink up
A Halloween party wouldn’t be complete without a creepy drink. How about serving up bug juice to your guests? Fill a big bowl with lemonade and add a few drops of green food colouring. Throw in some pretend insects or even some jelly bugs for an extra sweet treat.
6. Out of bounds
Whilst often as much fun for the parents as for the kids, Halloween parties usually end up with children covered in slime, face paint, fake blood and cobwebs, so the last thing you want is the mess travelling all around the house. A fun way to create an out of bounds area is to install a scary sign at the bottom of your staircase, not only does it add a bit of magic and mystery, it contains the mess!
